With the growing national need for mental health professionals at all levels, Albizu University – Miami Campus is hosting a free May 11 discussion panel from 1-2 p.m. (ET). The virtual event will focus on what job seekers should know about considering and preparing for a career as a provider in mental health.
According to the American Psychological Association and others, a particular challenge in the psychology field has been recruiting a diverse workforce able to address the dynamics of patients from various demographic segments.
The National Council for Mental Wellbeing reported that 77 percent of U.S. counties have a severe shortage of mental health providers. COVID has dramatically increased the need for these types of professionals.
“This translates into significant hiring opportunities in the mental health and psychology professions,” explained Albizu Professor and Pediatric Mental Health Specialist Dr. Scott Bauer, Psy.D., M.Sc.PP., M.S., L.M.H.C., who will moderate the May 11 forum featuring Dr. Jessica Popham, Dr. Edward Heyden, and Yamila Lezcano, L.M.H.C., I.M.H.
