Despite 21st-century medical advancements, maternal mortality and morbidity have steadily increased in the United States, with Black and Indigenous women in the U.S. experiencing three to four times higher risk of pregnancy-related death than white women (Trinoskey, 2024). Albizu University’s Miami and Puerto Rico campuses, through the partnership with Ohio State University and Howard University, strive to bring awareness to maternal mortality rates in the U.S., conduct community-based participatory research, and create cross-institutional maternal health equity research while preparing the scholars of tomorrow. During the Alumni fair, attendees will learn about student-led, faculty-supported research guided by Albizu faculty under the umbrella of the CONTINUUM project.
