Remote Learning Has Actually Brought Us Closer, Albizu University Chancellor Tells Miami’s Community Newspapers

Most college-bound students’ primary worry about how the COVID-19 pandemic will impact them has focused on potential loss of the classic academic social experience, Albizu University Chancellor Tilokie Depoo told Miami Community Newspapers Publisher Michael Miller during their recent visit at the publication’s South Miami headquarters.

“I have every confidence that you will get that experience,” Dr. Depoo reassured freshman students during his livestreamed interview. “Learning to work with others, to simply be, and to accept others will happen.  Be patient, stay focused and don’t let time go to waste.”

Depoo, who leads Albizu University’s Miami Campus, enjoyed a lively talk with Miller about how his world-renowned university is faring during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With personal anecdotes and lots of laughter, the two covered extensive topics ranging from Albizu’s high concentration of focused working-adult graduate and doctoral students, to the ease with which the University shifted to remote learning, to Depoo’s hopeful outlook for future of virtual education and interactive options in a post-pandemic world.

“If anything, remote learning has allowed students, teachers and even their families to connect a little more.
